We utilize regional and local partnerships to meet the needs of employers and job seekers.
IMPROVING OUR WORKFORCE EVERYDAY
The Greater Peninsula Workforce Board is committed to addressing the evolving workforce needs of a vibrate, dynamic regional economy.
The Board is responsible for overseeing Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding, which serves the Greater Peninsula’s local employers and job seekers with employment and training services through its American Job Center, Virginia Career Works – Hampton Center. In addition to its mandated WIOA duties, the Board holds the central role in providing leadership and direction on local strategic workforce issues, identifying local needs and developing strategies to address those needs. Its purpose in this regard is to ensure that local employers can become and remain competitive by having access to a highly skilled and well educated labor pool and that, individual job seekers and workers can attain the skills necessary for employment or better employment.
The Board’s biannual strategic plan outlines our partner-based systems approach and collaborative efforts to support and grow the Peninsula’s workforce and economic development opportunities.
